Taven's 1st Birthday

We took Taven to get his 1 year pictures done at JCPenny. They took a picture of him eating a cupcake. His cupcake was decorated as cookie monster (hence the blue frosting.) Here he is being cleaned up in the sink in the JCPenny Studio bathroom. As you can tell he enjoyed his cupcake!

This is Taven's birthday cake that we had for the guests at his party on the 14th. He got to enjoy his own cake that was made especially for him! He loves monkeys, so a Curious George cake was the only way to go! We dressed him in a little Hawaiian outfit, but we stripped him down to his diaper to enjoy his cake. He didn't quite get the idea of blowing out the candle, so his cousins Ethan and Cameron helped him out.

He started out being polite and just tasting the frosting, but as you can tell that lasted only a few seconds! He loved to get his hands in it and just shove as much into his mouth as he could at one time. The floor also saw its fair share. He is used to sharing with Koda. After we gave him a complete scrub down in the bath tub, he was ready to open his presents!

His gift opening was an all day event with the gifts of his stuffed frog and a musical ride toy to hold him over until later. He received Tonka toys, a baby cell phone, and books; which to my excitement he is starting to enjoy the story instead of chewing on the book. Also, he got push and pull toys to help him learn to walk (which he is very close!) Of course he got clothes, and he also received his first piggy bank! He enjoyed all the gifts but his favorites were the ribbons and balloons! After the big event he enjoyed a much needed nap as he did not get a long one while running errands with Mom and Aunt Missy.
As a general note, Mom and Dad are doing well. Todd's co-workers started calling him Poe from the movie Kung Fu Panda (he is the panda.) He took it to heart, and put a vinyl picture of Poe doing a kung fu kick on the back of his sheriff's truck. Eventually when his bosses see it he will have to take it off, but until then he is careful to hide it! Marie is happy to know that she will be able to stay at her school teaching 4th grade. The logistics still aren't worked out yet due to the boundary change, but she won't need to move schools. Woo Hoo!

Going Bananas for Halloween

For Taven's first Halloween he was a monkey! We took him around and showed him off to family and friends. He's the cutest monkey ever!
